The Indian government provides reservations in the Government and in public sector units and in the public and private educational institutions and in minority educational institutions especially for Backward Classes and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes. These people are socially disadvantage reservation policy of Indiaprovides extended opportunity to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The central government of India reserves 27% of higher education, and individual states may legislate further reservations. Reservation cannot be exceeded 50% as per the decision of Supreme Court but some states like Rajasthan have proposed a 68 % reservation which includes a 14% reservation for forward castes. Reservations are imposed todecrease the social differences in the country caste is not always criteria for reservation gender ,rural and urban states are also reserved to some extent this is only to bridge the gap of difference and overall development of the country surveys are also conducted to help decide the reservations some of the surveys conducted in India are National Family Health and National Sample surveys are also conducted according to the Indian caste system and there are Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other caste(OC).
